Located on the Loire River in the upper Brittany region of western France, Nantes has a long history as a port and industrial centre.
The fleet of Figaro Bénéteau 3’s will arrive in Nante on the 27th May for a week of celebrations before embarking on a month of offshore racing for the 50th anniversary edition of The Solitaire URGO Le Figaro.
Johanna Rolland, President of Nantes Metropolis and Mayor of Nantes
“We are very proud to welcome the 50th Solitaire du Figaro to Nantes on the 2nd of June, starting from the Quai de la Fosse. Nantes loves the river Loire, the Estuary and the Ocean. It is a land of sailors, with the arrival of the Débord de Loire event in May 2019 and the many remarkable individual recent performances from local sailors. Armel Tripon, who finished 3rd overall in the Route du Rhum and 1st in the Multi 50 category, or Luke Berry, who placed 6th in Class40 for his first participation, illustrates the vitality of the sport of sailing in Nantes and the fighting spirit. It is no coincidence that Nantes hosts this summer the exhibition “La Mer XXL”, and I know that La Solitaire du Figaro will give us a new opportunity to bring this dynamic to life.”
